Quadraspire engineered for audio furniture uses materials that have the required mechanical properties to reduce resonant energy significantly improving the sound of your hifi system.
Quadraspire makes three ranges of audio equipment racks that are more than something to put your Hifi equipment on. In your listening room, as volume is turned up you may notice sheet rock, picture frames, light fittings and A/C vents begin to rattle. Vibrations can be transient and are so small that they aren't always apparent. We can imagine how unwanted vibrations affect the tracing of the minute modulations in vinyl record grooves (about 30-50 µm in size but the modulations are about 100x smaller) and the reading of the microscopic pits on CDs (pit dimensions are about 1.6 µm track x 0.83 µm). Information will be lost in much the same way a photograph will be blurred if taken with shaky hands.
Loudspeaker manufacturers go to great lengths using bracing, dampening and advanced materials, to control loudspeaker enclosure resonances which cause coloration or simply soak up the sound. These effects are even more severe on shelves and cabinets and the presence of 2D standing waves on panel surfaces can easily be demonstrated using Chladni's technique where powder particles move from vibrating areas to stationary areas forming patterns. Background ground-borne vibrations are also present in our environment up to 0.1mm - 0.25mm/s 2-15Hz in residential areas; increasing with traffic.
Chaldni patterns are the inspiration of Quadraspire's curved edge and intricate machining cut into the underside of the shelves. Musical instruments are shaped to control resonances but the orientation, thickness and composition of the wood and metal (seasoning and orientation of grain in violins, types of metal used in brass instruments) control the harmonic structure. Today Quadraspire uses mainly bamboo and nonferrous solid aluminum alloy columns. Quadraspire The X Reference range uses phosphor bronze columns (upgrade for the less expenive ranges)
Quadraspire's modular design gives the ability to add to, or reconfigure a rack with different shelf spacing as a system evolves over the years and really adds to the long term value. The overall basic design has not changed since the company was founded and further refinements, such as the bronze upgrade, have always been backwards compatible with existing racks. Quadraspire's product builder lets you easily design a complete rack in a variety of bamboo finishes.
Add on shelves for older Quadraspire Q4 Evo, SVT, QAVM racks, and 19mm and 32mm straight columns are available as a special order if your new equipment does not fit in your current Quadraspire rack. Contact us for with your requirements.
