The carbon-fiber A.C.T. 0.5 tonearm is original in every aspect of design and execution. Wilson Benesch elegantly addresses tonearm tube resonance by using the combination of a complex hyperbolic profile - rather than a straight cylindrical tube - and contrasting tonearm tube and mounting collar/counter weight materials. These elements are inherently self-damping and avoids the additional mass of elastomer damping. Carbon-fiber has half the mass of aluminum, 5 x the stifness of steel, and is an order of magnitude superior in damping compared to conventional tonearm materials. A unique stiction-free "kinematic" tonearm bearing is deployed. This both "floats" the tonearm while allowing 2 degrees of movement only.
The Ply cartridge has a super stiff, low mass, non-resonant, magnetically transparent body married to a prescision Swiss motor and stylus assembly. The Wilson Benesch Full Circle Turntable is easy to set up and with the completely stable carbon fiber materials used is maintainance-free and performance consistent. Sonically the Full Circle Turntable is detailed with a low noise floor and essentially neutral. May be upgraded with the A.C.T. 2.0 tonearm.
